Q: Bail Agent Prelicensing is no longer required to lawfully bounty hunt in California. Why should I attend Bailspeak’s prelicensing course?
A: Bailspeak holds the only California Department of Insurance Approved prelicensing course with blocs of instruction on lawful bounty hunting with an emphasis of keeping you and your bail bond client out of criminal court, civil court and the morgue.
Ask yourself a few questions, and, if you don’t immediately know the answers without researching the subject matter or asking a Bailspeak Alumni, liability for you and your bail agent client and his or her surety, provided that you can successfully negotiate an interview without a working knowledge of bail and bail bond forfeitures, may rise exponentially.
What is the “appearance period” regarding a forfeited bond?
Is it lawful to apprehend a bail jumper while a motion to extend is pending?
Under which laws and circumstances do bounty hunters LAWFULLY transport and carry firearms?
Under which circumstances may a prosecuting attorney charge a bounty hunter with Burglary, False Imprisonment, Extortion, Conspiracy, Kidnapping, Robbery, Impersonation, and when do charges go Federal?
When and how does Deprivation of Civil Rights under the Color of State Authority apply to bounty hunters?
What constitutes Due Diligence that will not shock the reasonable person?
How much time does a bounty hunter have to book a bail jumper?
What documents are required to lawfully apprehend a bail jumper?
Which documents are interchangeable?
If you cannot immediately answer the above basic bounty hunting questions, it is conceivable that you may not be able to win a bounty hunting contract from a veteran bail agent; moreover, lack of knowledge is the leading causation under which bounty hunters and bail agents are arrested, charged and convicted.
The above subjects are in fact covered, in great detail, at Bailspeak’s prelicensing class, and you will not find this kind of State-of-the-Art instruction on lawful bounty hunting in California anywhere else.
Lastly, more and more California bail agents will not consider a bounty hunter who does not have a Prelicensing Certificate from Bailspeak.
Q: How do I get started or how do I become a bounty hunter?
A: " How to get started in bounty hunting, or bail enforcement, is the most oft asked question that I receive via telephone, cellular phone, email and in person.
A single answer to the question does not exist, in my opinion, and, in point of fact, there is no simple way to convey the incalculable number of questions and answers necessary to negotiate the multitude of sub topics on the subject.
The laws that govern bounty hunting may or may not intertwine to form a labyrinth of study to be followed by studying published case cites and then discovering how it all applies to the streets.
It would be inescapably necessary to discuss the importance of physical fitness, one’s psychological ability to negotiate confrontation safely and legally, training, certification, licensing, investigations, sales, marketing, understanding the bail bond company owner’s goals, objectives and the many ways deals can go bad.
One can rest assured; it could easily take years learning and becoming accomplished in just one of the aforementioned disciplines!"

Q: What should I look for in an instructor?
A: Prospective students should consider a person's actual teaching experience and the success of his or her students and over an extended period of time. It is not difficult to take "instructor certification courses," but actually being able to effectively teach or otherwise pass on instruction is an entirely separate matter. See "About Bailspeak" on this site to read what real students who have gone on to do what they've been taught and are saying about Bailspeak and its Primary Instructor, Rex; indeed, Rex Venator is the only California Bail Education Instructor who is a published author with books on the subjects of bounty hunting, bail bond motion studies, and has himself produced instructional DVDs on various topics common to the bail bonds trades such as the Use of Force, Proactive Bounty Work: Making Surveillance Obsolete, and Street Proven Bounty Hunting.
